Steps to Renew a Real Estate Sales Agent or Real Estate Broker's License

STEP 1 - EDUCATION
Complete your required education during your renewal period. So what's your requirement?
 
CE (Formerly called MCE)
Sales Agents past their first renewal, and Brokers

The education requirement is 18 hours of CE which will include the required legal courses:

Legal Updatate I (4 hours)
Legal Update II (4 hours)

New: February 1, 2021 - sales agents and brokers are required to complete at least three hours in contract-related coursework as part of the 18 hours of continuing education (CE) required to renew a license. All of our contract courses are approved for this "Required Contract" requirement.

If you have supervised or sponsored another license holder during this current renewal period, see the Broker Responsibility Requirement below.

SAE
Sales Agents on their first renewal

If you're licensed as a sales agent, on your first renewal you may be required to complete 30, 60 or 90 hours of SAE. If you're unsure, call us at 1.877.550.5808 for assistance.

In addition to the SAE requirement, you'll need the required CE legal courses:

Legal Updatate I (4 hours)
Legal Update II (4 hours)

BROKER RESPONSIBILITY COURSE REQUIREMENT
The 6 hour Broker Responsibility CE course is also required as part of your 18 hour CE requirement if:

If you are a Broker who sponsored one or more Sales Agents during the current license.

If you are a Designated Broker of a Business Entity which sponsored one or more Sales Agents during the current license (i.e. Corporation or LLC).

If you are a Sales Agent or Broker that was a Delegated Supervisor of one or more license holders during the current license.
  
STEP 2 - RENEW WITH TREC
Once you have completed all your required education, and the education has posted with TREC, complete and pay your renewal with the Texas Real Estate Commission by visiting their website at http://www.trec.texas.gov by your expiration date.
